What is GenderChill?
We believe in the rights of every being to thrive, whether through fitting within, existing outside of, or flowing between the categorizations dominant society has imposed upon us to constrain our views of ourselves and others.
We believe in the beauty of circumventing absolutes in favor of navigating possibilities.
We believe in validating and celebrating the ebbs and flows of the journey toward finding and living in our own authenticity.
GenderChill is one such celebration: an opportunity to embolden ourselves and others to question, resist, and reject the presumed inherence of a divided state of being while acknowledging the struggles that continue to exist for those who do.
This one’s for you.
Last year, we showcased some of the many ways by which we define and redefine what it means to be us. We brought together universities, activists, artists, and community organizations that support the fight for gender diversity, curiosity, and free expression.
Most importantly, we strived to provide a tangible space and place for our community to embody such values, as doing so allowed us to affirm what we know to be true: we can all honor each other by acknowledging the multitudes that exist within us.
This year, we will do more of the same to support our folx and our benefactor, TransSOCIAL, an organization working to ensure the availability of such spaces for our South Florida Transgender family.
Together, we can continue to chisel away at the gaps that exist between those spaces on our campus and in our communities.

All joking aside, GenderChill is something that is very near and dear to us, and we hope it is to you as well. We need more spaces to freely express ourselves, celebrate one another, have fun, and strengthen our sense of community.
However, putting this event together on a graduate student organization budget (don’t get us started…) is not always easy, and we have to fundraise nearly every dollar that goes into this production. But we do it with joy in our hearts and smiles on our faces! So, whether you can chip in $5 or $500, we would love to have your support!
